Just having a quick look at the program for the nationals and I was wondering if the start time for the 25km long course on sunday is correct.

    If you could please advise

    Thanks
    Belinda

Just wondering what the last day for registrations and payment is?

    Many thanks.

Yes Belinda 1:00pm is correct. We have to allow time for travel to Woopi if a NE is blowing and we want to make sure there’s enough wind, race start only 1/2 hr later than last year. Increased junior numbers needed another 30mins this yr. We’ll start earlier if southerly blowing, ie start may change due to conditions on the day.

    Hi Jane
Thanks for reminding me, entries close Friday 5th December. We won’t be turning anyone away if they’re late but there will be a $20 late fee involved per event entered.

I know you haveonly just included SUP in the program but do you have any idea what distance the SUP race will be? 8km ? Many thanks for your reply.

Hi Mark, thanks for that but the original program I printed said it was 4pm which I thought was maybe a bit late to start.

    Hi Sue
We’re not sure what the demand will be for SUP in the 8k - 15k and 25k. Therefore we’ve decided that if SUP’s want to enter any of the races we’re happy to have have them! (we will need to finish each race within the alloted time on the race schedule though!)

Coffs has been granted hosting of the Nationals for the next three years, we’d like to see this event really grow in numbers and opening it up to other craft will help enormously with the regatta’s viability. More entries mean a bigger better quality event for all.

    Sue,
The registration form has now been updated. Under “craft” you have a choice of OC1 OC2 or Other. Other covers Ski’s SUP and Paddleboard, you can enter which one under “Canoe Type” so we know where to place the entry. I’ll have the program expanded to cover ski, SUP and paddleboard asap.

    Mark,
I just wanted to clarify the mid ocean change that was mentioned above. The 25km ocean challenge is this open to OC1 individual paddlers or do we require a partner, hence the mid ocean change?……..

    Hi Matt,
Everyone will start the 25k race together, both the Iron 25k paddlers and the relay paddlers. All will have to go around the Seacat at midrace distance however only the relay paddlers will change. You either enter as a 25k Iron contestant (there won’t be any divisions in the Iron it’s a scratch race for males & females)or you enter in the relay where all divisions will be represented.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply Mark. I am getting quite alot of interest in the event from alot of SUP paddlers. You mentioned that we must finish in the allocated time which is fine and makes sense. I thought I would just bring to your attention that Stand Ups are alot slower than OC1’s and all other craft. To give you an example..the fastest male SUP would be about the same pace as a medium ranked womens OC1. So they will hopefully all just make the times allocated. I hope it all works out and Stand Ups are continued to be included in the future as you are helping this new sport grow in Australia as there are very few races offered. All the best and thank you for the inclusion…

    Sue,
could you contact me via my email mglynch@bigpond.net.au or my mobile 0427455784 re the practicality of getting the SUP’s away 10mins earlier than the main field to have them finishing at the same time and keep the program moving along?
    Cheers

Who ended up taking out the Club pointscore trophy?? Did the host club manage to hang onto the title?
